Public vs private events (and page passwords)

Decide who can find your event, and lock a private event behind a page password.

Every TokTix event is either public or private. You choose in the event editor, and you can change it any time before or after publishing.

Public events

A public event can be found and shared by anyone with the link. Use this for open-to-the-public nights you want to promote widely.

  1. In the event editor, find the Visibility section.
  2. Choose Public.
  3. Publish as normal. Anyone with the link can view and buy.

Private events

A private event is only for people you send the link to. Use this for invite-only parties, members' nights, or private bookings.

  1. In the Visibility section, choose Private.
  2. (Optional) Turn on a page password and set one. Buyers must enter it to see the event and check out.
  3. Share the link — and the password, if you set one — only with your invite list.

A private event with a page password is the closest thing to a locked door. Without the password, the link shows nothing useful. Change the password any time to cut off an old link.

Which should I use?

  • Selling to the public / promoting on social → Public.
  • Invite-only, or you don't want it discoverable → Private.
  • Extra-sensitive guest list → Private plus a page password.

Changing visibility doesn't affect tickets already sold — it only controls who can reach the event page going forward.

Still stuck? Open the TokTix app, go to Profile → Feedback, and send us a message — we read every one.
